Fact or Opinion
Students were asked the definitions of fact and opinion. After that, a statement was made for them to decide if it was a fact or opinion. Finally, this sentence was read to them - All students must take English, a fascinating ninety minute class that meets every other day. They were asked to give the facts and opinion in the statement. For class work, students were given a passage with a graphic organizer (below). Their instructions were to find 4 statements, write them in the "Quote" column. In the second column, they were to identify if it was fact or opinion; and in the third column, they had to explain why it was either a fact or an opinion.
